Mouton Cadet was created in 1930 by a decision of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, who wanted to make part of his production more accessible. He therefore had part of the red wine produced by Château Mouton Rothschild downgraded. Since then, this cuvée remains a classic for all red wine lovers.
Its unique taste comes from a very precise blend. The Merlot brings roundness and aromas of ripe red fruits. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings tannic structure and notes of small black fruits. The Cabernet Franc gives elegance and freshness.
Tasting notes
- An intense purple color with light carmine reflections.
- The nose opens with an explosion of fruit, notably wild strawberry, burlat cherry, blueberry and blackcurrant. The fruit is still very present after aeration and is enhanced by complementary notes of sweet spices.
- In mouth, the attack is supple and balanced. We quickly find the fruits present in the nose, accompanied by silky, deep and dense tannins which structure the middle of the mouth.
- The finish is remarkable for its richness and reveals a slight sweetness, a little extra that concludes this wine in the most beautiful way.
